No. 5 - A new storage system designed to grow with your needs. Modules and fittings are standardised in the proportions inherent in 5, and can be built and re-built many different ways without losing their fundamental design.

When Jesper Ståhl started thinking about a new storage series for Voice, he was convinced

early on that the time was right for system furniture. A system approach that would be as much about mathematical problem solving as design. He was familiar with the golden ratio, but what proportions would be most appropriate for a storage system in the year 2012?

Was there a number that could create aesthetic harmony while also enabling practical storage?

The answer lay in the third prime number, the sixth Fibonacci number: 5.

Or to be more precise, √5.

Because No.5 is a system where everything is based around a basic module and where everything is held together by the proportions in 5, it can be built and re-built in many dfferent ways. The system can be fitted with doors, drawers or shelves in numerous combinations. It can be mounted on a wall or placed on a plinth,. frame or even on castors for optimal mobility. The colour of the back of the furniture is one way of giving your storage that personal touch.

The philosophy behind the scaled-back design is that the contents should take up the space. The walls are just 10 mm thin, but at least as strong as their thicker cousins. The secret lies in the innovative construction. Using an MDF core with a specially laminated surface, a board is folded into a finished module. This means the edges are far more even and stronger than gluing several layers.

The width of the basic module has also been meticulously adapted to the needs of a modern home office. The height is ideal for folders, and the shelf tallies with the A4 format. Nothing has been left to chance. Everything has been planned. W 800 x H 360 x D 360 mm.
